How to Grow Hair Longer Fast
A problem that many of us women face is the fact that our hair seemingly grows at a snail’s pace when we want it to grow long and strong NOW! Although I can’t promise that this post will give you long, luxurious hair in a week, I can promise that these tips will help to promote hair growth, eventually leading to longer hair.
Biotin Vitamins – known as the beauty vitamins, these promote the growth of hair and nails and also claims to make skin look and feel healthier. Not only do Biotin Vitamins promote healthy hair, nails and skin but they aid in the converting of fatty acids and glucose into fuel for energy and also keeps sweat glands, nerve tissues and bone marrow working efficiently. Recent studies also seem to suggest that Biotin benefits with skin issues such as acne and eczema. I started taking Biotin Vitamins to make my hair grow longer and I can’t honestly say that my hair necessarily grew longer, but it seemed to promote more of my hair to grow. I have noticed way more baby hairs than I ever had before, which is kind of annoying but worth it because the vitamin is doing something. I have also noticed my hair looking and feeling healthier. It seems to shine from within which is awesome. I haven’t taken them long enough to see REAL results, but will keep you updated as time goes on. I bought these for $16 at BJ’s.
Promote Healthy Hair – I have talked about this before in previous posts but I can’t stress it enough. Healthy hair is essential to growing long hair. Here are some things I do to keep my hair healthy:
1. I do NOT wash my hair every day. You shouldn’t wash your hair every day because you are stripping it of its natural oils. Some times you need to leave your hair alone and let it do it’s own thing. Instead of washing every day use a dry shampoo. My favorite is Kenra because it truly works, and smells amazing taking away any unwanted scents
2. When I do wash my hair I make sure I’m using the right shampoo and conditioner. A crucial aspect of my washing routine is to use a cleansing shampoo at least once a week. I have pretty fine hair, but also use a lot of different product in it, which tends to cause build up. A clarifying shampoo cleans your hair of all this build up and gunk, leaving you with fresh hair. I use Sunday Shampoo by Bumble and Bumble and love it! After I shampoo with this I do a deep conditioner to nourish my real hair, minus the gunk and build up. I use Goldwell Rich Repair 60 second Deep Conditioner, but leave it in for more then 60 seconds, and rinse thoroughly.
3. After showering these are the products I ALWAYS use. The first one is Redken Anti Snap Leave in , which is meant to mend split ends, and let me tell you it does just that. My hair is extremely prone to split ends and this product leaves my hair with NONE, it literally is a miracle worker. I put two pumps in my hands, rub them together and then apply only to the ends of my hair. I have layered and angled hair, and also bangs, and I put Anti Snap on all of these, staying away from my roots. This leaves my ends super soft!
4. My next go to is Goldwell Color Glow IQ Deep Reflects Leave-in Treatment. This contains an advanced formula called Multi Gloss System, which protects hair from free radicals, UV rays and drying heat, while promoting insane shine. It also helps to retain color depth and radiance without weighing hair down. I spray this all over my hair, then flip my head over and spray all over the under side of my hair. This stuff is simply amazing! After putting this in and blowdrying, my hair is baby soft, and is unbelievably shiny, like I’ve never seen my hair look before. This makes my hair look and feel healthy! I even mist a light layer over dried hair to make hair glow. I can’t say enough great things about this product
5. Use an oil treatment – Using an oil treatment on your hair is a must, especially when the ingredients can either be found at home or at your local grocery store. Refer to my post about olive oil hair treatments. Besides using olive oil another crucial oil treatment your hair needs to grow long and healthy is coconut oil. Coconut oil has been in use as hair oil for ages especially in places like India, because it has shown such remarkable results. Components in the oil keep hair strong, vitalized, nourished, and protected from the effects of aging. You apply this oil to your hair by massaging it first into your scalp, and then working it down your hair. Let your hair sit in the oil for as long as you want – the longer the better! Then wash and condition like you regularly would. You can buy coconut oil at any local Whole Foods.
6. Get regular trims- It is crucial that you get a hair trim every 4-6 weeks, especially if your hair is prone to split ends. When you’re cutting off the dead ends of your hair, your making it much easier to grow long, healthy hair. Usually you’ll notice if your split ends are really bad, your hair growth is minimal. Try going to a hair school to get the cheapest trims around. You might be weary because the trims will be done by a student, but don’t fret. A teacher is always right there guiding the student, and ensuring the best hair cut possible. It is usually so much cheaper than a regular salon, and so worth the results!
7. If your hair still isn’t growing at the pace you want, try clip in hair extensions. Clip in hair extensions have literally changed the world we live in, allowing for people with extremely short hair to look like they have amazingly long hair in seconds! I have tried a brand called Luxy clip in hair extensions and they are amazzzzing! They were developed by two young and beautiful sisters who make videos on how to correctly put them in, how to take care of them, and how to style them. They are literally fool proof. I would recommend getting the 160 gram set for ultimate body, and thickness. I got mine in Chocolate Brown and am very satisfied with them. Below is an actual picture from Luxy showing before and after with the hair extensions. The difference is amazing and worth a try!
Those are some of the steps I have taken to achieve long hair! Try them out and see if they work for you too :)
