it's ok to be DIRTY

So This post is going to be all about dry shampoo.  If you've never heard of dry shampoo let me tell you, you are missing out.  One of the major factors that contribute to healthy hair surprisingly is not washing your hair too often.  Washing your hair too often causes the hair to lose its natural oils, and you'll notice your hair looking much more dry than usual.  That is why the hair gods have invented dry shampoo.  For those of you worried that not washing your hair will lead to it looking like a complete grease ball, here's your solution.  Dry shampoo basically soaks up all of that excess oil, and leaves you with normal looking hair.  I'm not going to lie and tell you that after using a dry shampoo your hair looks just like it does after you've washed it, but it is manageable and promotes healthy hair!  If your me and you go to the gym a lot during the week, I can see your concern since your hair might get sweaty.  I know its a little gross but I just towel dry my hair, trying to get as much sweat/oil out as I can, then I just take a body shower.  Then when needed I use the dry shampoo, and it might seem gross but I'm telling you no one ever notices when my hair is dirty!  It's worth using dry shampoo :)  In this blog I'll talk about some dry shampoo options - Hope you enjoy

1. Right now I am obsessed with a brand of dry shampoo called Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo.  Now unless you are a stylist, unfortunately you won't be finding this in any store near you.  I found it on Amazon.com after it was recommended to me by a hairdresser.  It cost me about $12 which isn't that bad at all considering you'll be saving much more shampoo and conditioner from using this.  Anyways Kenra smells SOOOO good it smells like mangos or a tropical fruity drink which is awesome because after a couple of days of no washing your hair can start to smell a little musty, so spraying this on will help with that off smell.  It comes in a spray can and is easy to apply to your hair.  Here are the steps I take when using this :
1. With my hair down I part my hair the way it usually is, noting where the oil seems most abundant
2. Holding the can about a foot away from my head (make sure you don't spray it really close to your head or it will spray your hair white) and spray it as much as I feel like I need
3.  Then let it sit for about a minute on your hair without touching it
4.  When it seems "dry" on your hair use your fingers to massage it into your head like it was real shampoo.  You'll notice when its enough because the top of your head won't have that white powdery look
5.  Brush through your hair, focus on the areas where you've sprayed the dry shampoo brushing out any excess
6. Enjoy fresh smelling and looking hair without the process :)

2.  Another dry shampoo that I have heard about, but not tried myself is John Frieda Luxurious Volume Refresher Dry Shampoo.  This one costs about $6 and is available at your local CVS or Walgreens or also on Amazon.com (you can literally find ANYTHING on this website its awesome!)  Unlike the Kenra Dry Shampoo, this one promotes more volume which is always a plus!  If you've ever noticed after a day of no washing your hair tends to fall flat, this dry shampoo helps to defeat that flatness.  It also does not come out chalky so it is good on all colored hairs!  Use the same steps I listed for the Kenra Dry Shampoo and your hair should be looking great without having to wash your hair on a daily basis!

3. TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Little Secret is next on the list.  This can also be found at your local CVS or Walgreens and costs about $12.  Out of the three it is the biggest can of dry shampoo.  One of the biggest complaints about this dry shampoo is that it runs out easily sometimes barely ever been used.  This is why it is 3rd on my list of dry shampoos to buy, who wants to buy a product that could be gone 1 time after using it?  Not me.  I have never had that problem with my Kenra Dry Shampoo, I've actually used it upwards to 20 times and have never had one single problem with it

4. Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo is last on my list of Dry Shampoos.  This one I have found to be the worst.  Although at an unbeatable price of 4.99 in your local CVS or Walgreens, this product did absolutely nothing to my hair.  It actually made my hair look worse than how it was before I had used it.  The smell is so/so but it is nothing that will make you feel comfortable knowing you have that musty smell in your hair.  My hair literally looked more greasy after I had applied this to my hair.  I would NOT recommend this product to anyone!

So there's what I have to say about Dry Shampoo.  Don't be afraid to let your hair be a little dirty, cause with some of these products no one will ever know.  So promote healthier hair, don't wash it every day!  And I'm promising if you do this, when you actually DO wash your hair you will notice a drastic change in how it looks when it is styled.  It will look AMAZING and shiny and luscious and full everything you want out of your hair!  Hope you enjoyed
