How to Go Longer Without Visiting the Salon
Sure you know you should get your hair trimmed every six to eight weeks but sometimes that just isn’t possible. Whether you are trying to save some cash or just don’t have the time to make it to the salon, getting your hair done often just isn’t always an option. So here are some tricks that can help you stay out of the salon, but still have healthy and beautiful hair
Make sure you are using the right shampoo and conditioner. Nothing looks worse than dry, brittle ends: they scream CUT ME! So a solution for those ends is to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. The line Living Proof Restore, developed by MIT scientists, is formulated with a moisture controlling molecule, PolyfluoroEster, which restores the protective layer on dry or damaged hair and reduces hair’s porosity by 100%. This product makes dry or damaged hair look, feel and behave like virgin hair. It also increases hair’s resistance to breakage up to 9 times while protecting, healing and preventing further damage. Basically this system is the SHIT! This comes in shampoo, conditioner, and mask. The shampoo and conditioner can be used as a daily shampoo and conditioner, while the mask should be used once a week.

Wash your hair less often! It isn’t the passing time that damages your hair, but rather it’s all the different things you do to your hair that damage it. So refrain from washing every day and you will also refrain from brushing, styling, and blow drying. Try a dry shampoo like Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo to refresh your tresses in between washes
Try washing your hair in reverse. Instead of applying a shampoo first try applying a conditioner to the ends of your hair first. This protects your ends from suds which sometimes result in the drying out of your hair
Only lather your scalp. Many women make the mistake of overloading on the shampoo. Try massaging shampoo into just your scalp and slowly work down your hair. Even if your hair doesn’t seem that lathered, when the shampoo is rinsed out it will still go down your hair cleansing it along the way!
Do a weekly mask. A deep conditioning mask instantly makes hair look 10x healthier! People with extremely thick hair can even use one every time they wash they’re hair. Here are some options:
Goldwell Rich Repair 60 second treatment
L’Oreal EverSleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner
Remember to first towel dry your hair so it's not soaking wet before applying conditioner to your hair!
Apply product to damp hair. You want to apply product to hair that is pretty damp because as the hair starts to dry, the outer layer of the hair shaft raises like fish scales and moisture gets trapped underneath making hair look frizzy. Seal each strand with styling cream, preventing this from happening and allowing for your hair to appear smoother. Moroccan Oil is a good choice to apply to the ends of your hair or Moroccan Oil Hydrating Cream.
Don't let your infrequent visits to the salon stop you from promoting healthy, beautiful hair. Try these tricks and see if you can maintain healthy hair without having to make the trip and spend the money!
