Healthy Hair

At this moment I am trying to grow my hair long, so keeping it healthy is key to achieving this.  Some of my main problems include a dry scalp and splitting ends, which halt hair growth and leaves you with dull, lifeless hair.  Are you someone who has hair that lacks shine, is dry or damaged, prone to breakage and split ends, frizzy with fly aways?  I may just have a solution for you, that doesn't involve spending insane amounts of money.  Try this simple trick and see how your hair turns out.

1. Olive Oil
What many people don't know is that olive oil makes for a great mask for your hair.  It helps with a dry itchy scalp, dry damaged hair, split ends, breakage, fly aways, and lack of luster or shine.  Basically it is a miracle for our hair that we can usually find right in our kitchen!  Here's the steps to take to apply an olive oil mask to your hair
1.  Fill up a coffee mug of olive oil, more or less depending on the length and thickness of your hair, and put it in the microwave.  You want to slightly heat the oil, but you do not want it HOT rather you want it warm.
2. Pour some of the oil on the top of your head and massage it into your scalp.  Take time to really get it in to your scalp, while gently massaging it
3.  Apply to your whole head and make sure to really massage it in so as to attain ideal results
4.  Use left over oil to put on the rest of your hair covering it right down to the ends of your hair.
5.  Gently comb your hair to ensure the oil has reached all parts
6.  Put a shower cap or plastic bag over your head and let sit.  Last night I let mine sit in for only 2 hours before I showered but I would recommend putting it on before bed and sleeping with it in and showering it out the next morning
7. Shampoo as you normally would, making sure to really rinse out all of the oil

2. Tonic Shampoo - by Bumble and Bumble
This is the shampoo I use when I do the oil treatment because I want to further nourish my scalp, since that is a major problem area for me especially during this time of the year.  This shampoo is amazing!  It has tea tree oil and peppermint extracts in it which help soothe the scalp, balance the oils in your hair, and stimulates circulation in your scalp.  A really cool thing about this shampoo is that it tingles and cools on your scalp which feels really different, but really good at the same time.  Make sure that you lather your hair well and leave this in for a minute or two before rinsing.  This stuff really works to soothe my scalp, makes my hair look shiny and makes it feel soft all pluses in my book!
Tonic Shampoo = $22

Next I made sure to thoroughly towel dry my hair, brush it through, and then apply my Redken Anti Snap leave in treatment to all of the ends of my hair, including my shorter sections and bangs.  Then I used a heat protectant and sprayed it all over my hair (make sure you constantly spray on a thermal protectant before applying any heat to your hair. It is so important in healthy hair)  Then I blow dried all of my hair.  The results were amazing to say the least.  First of all the texture of my hair was baby soft, even beyond soft.  It was amazing.  The shine and luster my hair had attained was beyond any I have ever seen before, it literally glowed in the light.  My ends did not look fried or split, but rather mended and extremely healthy.  Finally my cursed baby hairs on top of my head all lay flat.  My hair basically looks and feels amazing.  Try this treatment out and see how your hair turns out!  I promise you will be more than happy and so will your hair.  You should do an oil treatment atleast once a week if you have extremely damaged hair or every other week to promote healthier hair!  Hope you enjoyed.  Please when and if you try a product or a tip I tell you please share it with me on my facebook.  Yesterday I received an awesome post from a good friend who told me they bought 3 make up products I had talked about and was getting ready to buy the thickening line by bumble and bumble.  It made me really happy to hear that I am making valid suggestions.  After you try a product I want to know how you think it works!  Opinions matter to me and would really appreciate you sharing them with me!  Thank you :)
