Perfecting Eyebrows

Lately I have noticed girls rocking the extremely thin eyebrow look and frankly I have no idea who told them thin eyebrows were in, because they aren’t.  I unfortunately was born with extremely bushy eyebrows and have to keep up with maintenance fairly often.  Although I groom them at least once a week I do not allow myself to over pluck because if you haven’t noticed skinny eyebrows just look scary.  Eyebrows are meant to accentuate your face and you should treat them as so.  Think about how freaky you would look without eyebrows.  Well thin eyebrows aren’t far behind no eyebrows in the scary department.  The above picture shows Angelina Jolie's absolutely flawless eyebrows.  Her's are considered ideal because they line up perfectly with your nose, the way they should.  If you feel like your eyebrows need a make over try this out: take a pencil and make a straight line from your nostril.  The starting point of your brows should be aligned with this.  Do this for your arch and your tail, and you will be able to tell if you need a little work on your brows.  What’s in right now are full eyebrows that are shaped and well groomed.  A problem I face with this is that some parts of my eyebrows look a tad bare compared to the rest.  I have started to experiment with penciling in my eyebrows and failed many a time whether it was the coloring of the brows, or differing shape in my brows, I was always ending up with less than satisfactory brows.  Then I was introduced to an amazing kit by a brand called Anastasia Beverly Hills, which can be found at Sephora.  This post will go into detail about this kit, and give pointers and tips on how to achieve full, beautiful brows.

When first opening the kit you might be a little overwhelmed but right now we will go step by step and explain every product that this comes with.  First you need to choose either the blond or brunette pallet.  Next you need to choose from the 5 stencils that come in the pack.  Don’t worry if one doesn’t exactly match your eyebrows just choose the one that is the closest to your natural brow shape.

Next apply the brow wax to your eyebrows.  This doesn’t feel sticky and really does seem to last all day.  Make sure that you extend the brow wax application a little past your natural eyebrow line, if the stencil you are using calls for you to do so.

Now place the stencil against your face, lining it as close as possible to your brows.  The stencils come with markings on it, which help you know where the stencil should lie.  There is a marking for the end of your brows, the highest point in the arch of your brows, and the start of your brows.  Usually it calls for you lining the stencil so that the line where you eyebrow should start should be lined up with your nostril.

Once you feel comfortable with where the stencil is proceed to use the lighter of the two brow shades and just lightly brush the shadow onto the starting part of your brow and the tail of your brow.  Fill it in completely on both ends until you cannot see your skin anymore.  Next take the darker shade and apply that lightly to the middle of your brows, and dab a little at the start of your brows and the tail.

Next take the stencil off and examine your brows to make sure they are filled in correctly.  If they are take an eyebrow comb and just brush a little through them to get rid of the excess.

Now wipe off both sides of the stencil, turn it over and prepare to do your other brow.  Again apply the wax to brows, place the stencil on your brow and apply the brow shadow, remove and comb through brows lightly.  Your brows should hold this look for the entire day.

Next the directions say to tweeze the hairs that lie outside of your eyebrows.  This is awesome because it prevents you from over tweezing and ending up with extremely thin brows.

For a little extra glamour use the highlighting shadow that also comes with this.  The lightest shade is the best for this.  Just lightly apply the color right underneath your brow bone.  Don’t pack it on just light.

Finally enjoy full brows that have shape and no bare spots.  This kit will truly help to brighten up your face and draw more attention to your eyes.  The kit is a little pricey at 39.50 but it is so worth it if you have pesky brows, so give a try and please let me know what you think!
